Why now? Why College Navigators?
For years I have been stopped in the grocery store, asked questions from my chair on the third baseline of the softball field, and approached at every other place that my path crosses by people who need help. Help figuring out how to "get their child accepted to college". The good news is that more young people are attending college. The bad news is, there are not "more" colleges to attend - so the competition for admission to schools is rooted in simple supply and demand.
As a mom, I get it. We all want our children to succeed, to be happy, to get what they want (sometimes). But how do we help them through a process that can be overwhelming when you have not been through college admissions in more than 18+ years?! AND the process is more complicated for today's student... How? You get help.
Over the past 12 years, I have been working with students and families specifically in college & career readiness. I have witnessed great successes. I have also witnessed great disappointment. I firmly believe that there is a path to success for everyone. Some paths are a more "winding" and interesting. Some paths are straight and narrow. I am committed to helping students and parents walk their journey, whatever that may be. I have seen too many families lost due to a lack of knowledge and I am committed to helping empower students to choose better. To know better. To do better.
I want College Navigators to be a trusted source of information and assistance for student success. There is such a need for a trustworthy source of help to prepare families for a smooth journey. I want to help: My friends. My neighbors. My community. It is time.
And so... College Navigators begins.
